    ? for poss. upgrade GPU

    the question i have is ? i have an older system that we use and was wondering what video card might help system out some without bottlenecking the rest of the system?

    system spec's
    8rda+ ver.2.0
    xp2500 barton @ 200x11
    2x512 crutial ballistix @ 6,2,2,2,2t
    ati 9600 pro
    antec 350 psu
    win-xp pro

    system temps 36 idle, 44 load
    cpu= volcano 11
    gpu= arctic cooler
    case 4 x 120 fans

    what i want to do is see a little better frames rates in world of warcraft, current is around 32-38 with medium settings, can do better with low settings but doesnt look apealing lol

    any help ??
    thanks

    Missed this one.

    Gonna be harder to find AGP cards now. If anything, the CPU would be bottlenecking the video card.

    Do you have an ATI or Nvidia preference? A 7600GT would probably give your athlon xp all it can handle. For ATI, something like a X1650 pro

    A 6800GT will do nicely as well. May even be a bit of overkill but it's still a nice older card, especially if you use RivaTuner to unlock all the pixel pipelines.
    Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!

    I think you mean a 6800NU. 6800GTs are already fully unlocked. The differences between a 6800GT and an Ultra are the clockspeeds and the stock cooler.

    A 7600GT or x1650 would be faster and probably easier to find.

    Maybe I was thinking of the 6600GTs I used to use that I had to unlock. Oh well...at any rate, the 6800GT is what I had in mind. They are hard to find now, I was having a look around and they're history except for eBay. I wouldn't recommend going that route.

    thanks guys for the input, i figured the cpu would limit the choices out there. I know its an older system, i just figured might get a little more life out of it. I have no prefrerance to either card bothe have there perks. lol i was already looking into the 7600 or the 1650 pro, so at least i know i was on the same track

    the pc runs real good so thats why i even considered a newer (old) card. I will let you all know how it goes

    thanks again

    This one would work too (cheaper especially after rebate, though it doesn't have as nice a cooler):

    It's the exact same thing spec wise.
