OK with that. I have UBCD4WIN. I also have an old copy (months rather than years) of UBCD but I'll take that down in any case.
At present, I'm trying out Pareto data recovery (not much on TV) and it seems to be at least looking. Very slow but that may well be a good sign. This coming to you via the good old laptop

This is the prog. that recovered all my data except for 2 badly corrupted files. It's called ERD Commander. If you google for that, you'll get a page of results which will let you download the prog. BUT, it seems that Microsoft have now taken it over. I think it's still free but restricted to commercial types? Go to the second URL which gives you the full word.

I can tell you it is very, very slow. My friend from our local Computer Club finally had to leave it running overnight and in the morning, there were all my files.

Hmm, I don't remember ERD every being free. Seems a little sketchy, but that's an old version anyway. It's now called DaRT.

Oh dear!!! Don't try to download it 'cos it won't let you. Microsoft have blocked all the links I tried and redirected them to their own site which talks a lot but says nothing much!
Sorry to have misled anyone. My friend was lucky he had a copy from a while back. You might eventuallly find someone with an old, pre M$ copy on their site.

I just had a look at the DaRT site and it's a 30 day trial so I've downloaded it and saved it in case I need it ever again.

You should just keep the link. They timebomb the trial download after 30 days.

It doesn't seem like they changed much since ERD2005.
