No Idea what I'm doing here: Or even if what I'm trying to do is possible

I have a 512Mb Micro SD Card, I'm replacing it with a 4Gb Micro SD card. (well I'm trying)

Ok my Device ... A Cell Phone, will read both cards

However my PC will only read the 512Mb card ..... Ok so the 4Gb one is HD High Density ? Well ok ...... fine ..... does that mean that I will have to get a special card reader to read this on my PC ? (Or what)

Not all PCs, or phones, or card readers will read every card. Some cards are slightly "flaky" and no matter what, they will not work in all devices.

I would just buy another SD card since they are dirt cheap now then sell the other one on ebay.

That is your gamble. I have a 2GB Kingston in my phone and it works fine.

Kingston, Corsair, Sandisk, PNY...I've had decent luck with all of 'em. Don't worry...you'll break 'em all...we have faith in you =)

If it's a high density card, your reader may not read it, no matter what brand it is.

I've decided rather than mess bout with this silly lil card to just fire things between the pc & phone via bluetooth. A bit time consuming I guess, but easier than just punting till I get a card that works.

    Thanks anyways chaps

You didn't say what brand of card reader you have. But on the Sandisk line, if the Firmware on the card reader is only V1 then it can only see up to a 2GB Micro SD card .. You need Firmware V2 or
later on the Sandisk products to see larger than 2GB Micro SD card

Its just a generic el cheepo reader from the 99p bargain basket.
On the brighter side it fits where a Fdd would & runs from a USB header.

I spose I will have to wait for tech to cheapen up a bit before I get a reader fer this puppy.

I have one of those from Sandisk which takes the removable SD card
It would probably also be able to read the 4GB and larger Micro SD thru
the little Micro SD / SD adapter ... also have the Sandisk multicard reader,
not sure which model off hand .. don't have any high cap micro SD cards yet to try with either of them .. Just found it ... I think it is this one
