We'll also need to know what sort of RAM and CPU you are intending on using, in order to determine an appropriate motherboard

well I was looking into some boards and was just looking for good ratings one and I came up with this.

    GIGABYTE GA-X48-DQ6 Core 2 Quad/ Intel X48/ FSB 1600/

and for a CPU seems this is a pretty sort after one for about $210-240

    INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q6700 CPU BX80562Q6700 LGA775

any opinions or different recommendations for this Video card, this was purchased already no turning back

Good video card. Memory should work well in that system. Some systems have problems with memory that requires higher vdimm such as your choice. If you have problems booting, get a stick of DDR2 with a standard vdimm of 1.8~ then set the vdimm manually to the manufacturer specs.
Personally I would have saved the few bucks and gone with a Q6600, but that's my opinion.

I hav'nt made a final decision on the cpu yet!, I'll keep the memory in thought ,

I was just about to make sure my power supply was powerful enough for this!

Antec neo HE 550 high efficiency power supply

anyone know if this is enough ?

also I hope my case is going to be big enough for the video card as well

what a time to wonder, Ha

Should be enough as long as you don't put too much else in there.

I'm going to try this all out with my pentium 4- 3.06 GHZ and make sure everything works and then search for a good priced CPU , whats the difference between the quad and the core 2 duo besides one showing 4 processors and the other showing 2

the only other stuff thats going into this is the burner and cd-rom ,

I'm a little cincern with the case being a midsize one , I might have to modify it some for the video card

Nope, the screws and spacers usually come with the case

I thought they came with the MB anyway I found them in the case I had to use 3 spacers on this board , installed everything except the video card that will be here tues night , I don't see a specific way of connecting the sata cables but I did put them in this order anyway

    HD 0
    ROM 1
    BURNER 2
    03-04 for sata external

also not sure of a couple of fan hook-ups for the case fans

It doesnt really matter as you can set individually set the boot order for devices in the BIOS.
