Event Log ODiag and OSession
I was looking at my event viewer today and noticed a couple of logs that were not there (as I remember) the last time.
ODiag
OSession
When I look in them, there is noting recorded. I was just wondering what they are for and if I have anything to be worried about?

anyone have anything for me here?

I have NO idea and after a couple hours I find this which lists both.

Thanks for the reply Train....
I do have Peachtree setup which uses a form of SQL called pervasive, but i have this also installed on several other machines and it has not created these event logs....
From the link you posted, i am now wondering if it has to do with Windows Desktop Search? I installed that and am in the process of installing it. I will let you know if uninstall removes these....

I would be interested in what you find out.

Well I have uninstalled desktop search and the event viewer entries remain.
I know sometimes when you uninstall some things remain behind, this maybe the case with this...
I am still wondering if there is anyone that can confirm what these log files represent....

Other than going throught the regs for both and removing a possible programs folder. That is the best I can do for guidance.

Friend of Staff
The info on those events is not complete...
There should be an ID & a source associated with each of them.
Find it and search this site: EventID.Net
Anti-wrinkle cream there may be, but anti-b astard cream there is not..

Fancyf, Thanks for the reply. As stated, there is no event information recorded in either of these, so I have no event id to look up. Under the event viewer these are just the "folders"? where the events would be contained (when and if any happen)?
I just thought it odd that they were there (and still are), as I have never seen them in any other windows xp pro install that I have had before... and was wondering where they might have come from.

Its very possible these could be due to Office is installed and you have run Office Diagnostics .
ODiag = Office Diagnostics
OSessions = Office Sessions
These events are logged .

Office 2007
I first noticed these logs when I installed MSOffice 2007 Enterprise, although the went by other, less cryptic names (I don't remember exactly which). After I uninstalled MSO 2007, the logs took the names ODiag and OSession. In my case the files corresponding to the logs are located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\config, but they can't be removed. I'm considering to log in under protected mode or boot from a CD to delete them. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the replies. I have not installed office 2007, i use office 2003. But as I said earlier i did install MS Desktop Search and since uninstalled it. I am wondering if that is where they came from.
I am, with amacedo, looking for a way to remove these. If any one has any suggestions, I'm all ears...
