    Is there a Noticable speed difference in these HD's?

    I have the choice of Laptops from friend

    TOSHIBA Satellite A215-S4817 AMD Turion 64 X2 1.90Ghz, 2GB ram 200 HD 4400
    OR
    Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 AMD Turion 64 X2 200GB 2GB ram 160 HD 5400


    Is there a noticable difference in speed of computers with these 2 different HD's?

    Between 4200 and 5400 rpm, yes you will see the difference and also notice a fair size drop in how long the battery lasts too.

    what if I added 4gb ram to laptop with 200 HD 4200? Would that make it run faster or just stay with the laptop w/160 HD 5400 and add 4gb ram?

    adding more ram will not make up for slower spindle speed. you'll still be bottlenecked by the slower hard drive.
