No, the drive must be physically connected to a router. Once done, you can then connect to it with a wireless PC.

Another option is the Apple Time Capsule:

It's a WiFi router with a hard drive built in.

BPB is right. usb wireless adapters need client software/drivers to connect. merely adding the physical component would do you no good.

Regular USB devices must be connected to a Computer USB port since they are client devices and need the computer CPU in order to function.

You can make an External HD Wireless Storage by plugging it to a Wireless printer Server.

I'm not sure that drives will work on a print server. Your search was pretty generic and isn't refined to USB print servers.

He can use a USB server, but USB 2.0 versions are rare and expensive. I've tested the Silex USB 2.0 Server and it's pretty slow. It's expensive too.

It's still not wireless per se, so it has to be connected to a network via cable.

Sorry a mistake, Bill is right my link leads to Wireless Printer Servers, and what the OP is looking for is a Wireless NAS.

Giving the function of NAS it is not a good idea to keep the storage itself Wireless.

The drive can be plugged into a stand alone NAS, the NAS can e attached to a Wireless Router and be accessed by Wireless computers.
