    Dell Monitors

Hey do you know who makes Dells LCD Flat Panel monitors. I've been looking at them, but someone told me. If I knew who makes them, it might be less expensive to buy that brand, without the Dell name.

Any thoughts? I've been hearing Samsung & NEC?

Dell doesn't get LCDs from just one vendor. You'd have to research it by specific model and size.

Planar used to supply Dell, and may still do so.
Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!

just make sure you compare specs and price. I'm finding a bit better specs at the same or less price via newegg. ie, Dells 'standard' 19" LCD is 600:1 contrast ratio, and analog-only. for $10 more, Acer has all digital and 700:1 cr.

Hey thanks for info. Yeah I've been looking at specs real close. Thanks for the info on Acer, how good are their products. I remember years ago, they had a pretty awful reputation?

I haven't looked at the Acer monitors, but we've had to repair Acer desktops and laptops. I can't say the build quality is that great. Their support is pretty horrible too. I won't get into that further, since you're probably not going to be servicing it.

Performance can vary by brand, but especially size. What size are you looking for? Widescreen or not?

I usually recommend Samsungs, but that's just my opinion.

Oh yeah, I know all about Acer desktops and notebooks, I saw my share of them being returned. But I've seen some reasonable reviews on their monitors, but not a lot?

I have a Dell 19" WFP. I'm looking at about 24" or so. One that will satisfy my graphics, gaming and dvd watching needs for quite some time.

Here are some reviews to get you started:

Since you're looking at 24", it'll most likely be widescreen. be aware that your older games may not have wide resolutions. you would also want to run it at native res for best picture quality, which would be more taxing on your video card.

Well after looking at monitors I went with the Dell E249WFP, I was looking at some Samsung monitors as well. But price wise, they were up in the $400's! And after seeing the monitor close up with people who bought it. I liked it a lot and for my needs it was perfect.

I would rather have a brushed aluminum or silver color, but for the price I can live with the black. I was able to get it for $379.00 and free shipping. But it took a few calls and threatening to cancel my order...but it worked

I've never had a problem with Dells return policy on monitors. I'm leery about buying monitors online, where the vendor has a lousy return policy. It should be here on monday. Cool!
