Do I need an HDCP compliant motherboard to play Blueray?

There are some manufacturers offering HDCP compliant motherboards. Do I need to buy it to play blueray movies?

Or do i simply need to buy a HDCP compliant video card and LCD?

You also need a Blu-Ray DVD ROM drive.

Short answers to your questions as written: no to first, yes to second, if......Now if you want to play blueray commercial movies with DRM at HD using Vista, then reverse the above answers.
Don't confuse DRM and HDCP, two different issues. This leads to the long answer, it involves compliant hardware, software, the operating system and the media. Won't elaborate as you did not ask, and the number of "ifs" rises exponentially.

    Now I'm even more confused.

I am building a new PC and i just want to make sure that it will play the Blueray titles including the BD+ ones which will be coming out soon with added copy protection.

I am planning to switch to Vista. I understand that I will need to get a BD-ROM drive and a HDCP compliant video card and a HDCP compliant LCD monitor if I want to watch the movies in their maximum resolution.

My question is that does the motherboard also need to be HDCP compliant?

Link to said motherboard that is HDCP compliant?

The only thing I could think of is if the motherboard has integrated video, and they are saying that the integrated video is HDCP compliant?

AFAIK, you can take any old mobo, get a HDCP compliant vid card, and a HDCP compliant monitor, and be on your way.

Yeah, so all it is saying is that the onboard video is HDCP compliant.
