W2K Active Directory Domain Question

I've been upping the security on my network bit by bit lately, trying to get with the regular crowd.

We run an Active Directory 2000 Server based network, no plans to upgrade for a while.

I know you can set domain policy for account lockout to failed attempts, and it will log that info as well.

Say a person tries to log onto our system with a user account that does not exist, jdoe, will it log that as well?

Just trying to put it all together for the "higher ups..."

if there is no user account, then authentication would fail.
