Left clicking on desktop and toolbar problem

My friend is having a problem that she can't left click anything on the toolbar (such as yahoo messenger or AIM) or anything on the desktop for that matter. She has to right click it and say to open. The left mouse button does work on other things, just not that. She has Windows 2000

Since its a laptop you could have your friend plug in an external mouse to see if the issue still occur with the external mouse (USB or PS2 - depending on laptops support)

That could help you deteremin if its a hardware issue.

My daughter's mouse does the same, left button does not want to work. I swapped the mouse, no help.

Download and install new versions of the mouse drivers.

What virus and spyware scanners did you use? If they are free ones, then you got exactly what you paid for, nothing!
