    new vid card

    I have an old K75sa board with a Geforce 2 100/200 card that's about to bite the dust. What's the best card that's compatible with this board that it can handle.
    Mostly used for finances and an occasional game.

    There are at least a million different video cards that will work.

    Should I list each of them for you?

    Since that board is probably a Socket 462 board.

    Thanks for the replies guys,
    I asked for an opinion on which card you considered best for the board mentioned Sterling. I'm quite aware there are numerous card that will work on it out there. Thanks for the response anyway.
    The links provided were very helpful Train and helped to continue my search.I'm trying to zero in on one before my present card crashes out.
    Have a great day

    Once you get the manual for the board, check out the type of video slot it has.

    After you have that verified, post that information and we can help point you in a general direction to a better card. I spotted a couple in that AGP list that need to dodged.

    How much are you wanting to spend on the new video card?

    It might sound harsh, but that's how it is.

    K7S5A has a "universal" AGP slot, meaning that every single AGP card ever made potentially works in it.

    All good, which I understand thats how it is, I do klnow the motherboard, but his post was (What's the best card that's compatible with this board that it can handle)

    he was asking for sugestions or recomendations, If I get a call at the help desk from a client who has a computer problem you think id turn round to that client and tell him wow it could be a million and one things should I list them for you? no id be fired or lose a client or a return customer it only takes one person to say its bad dont go there that leads to 2 then 3 and so on and so forth, Im not being an **** to anyone nor am I trying to be rude Im just saying, thats not how to help someone who is looking for some information or advise. Just as train helped him no smart remark or comment, simple help the man being a Mod Sterling_Aug you if anyone should be setting an example to people who come to use this forum. Mind you I never seen you make a comment like that to anyone so mabye you got out of the wrong side of the bed who know's either way my reply is not a stap at you or anyone just a note. The sysopt forum is slowly dieing out and its a **** shame because I use to come here all the time.

    Well, if someone wants a recommendation without telling at least *some* hint on the intended use, how much better than "anything goes" can the answer be?

    Without any such filter, the range is from ATI Rage II+ to HD2900, which is quite some.

    Crazy is right. It does seem as if the volume of requests
    for help has diminished quite a bit in the last few months.
    As to Sterling's response, well, thats the way he gets
    sometimes.

    I found a bit of info on that old mobo here:

    http://www.redwoodsoft.com/~dru/tech/ecsk7s5apro.html

    * 2 184 pin DDR DIMM (DDR200, DDR266)
    * 2 168 pin DIMM (PC100, PC133 SDRAM)
    * UltraDMA 33/66/100
    * LAN: MAC integrated in SiS735 & PHY on board

    ... and as already mentioned, the AGP slot is "universal", taking everything from early not-really-AGP cards to the very latest 8x stuff.

    Well put CrazyCrusher--I myself deal with rude customers everyday and handle rude employees by promoting them to customers. It's part of my job. I also deal with rude techs and good ones on system problems in my corporate job.you run into all kinds. Basically I ignored the tone of Sterlings response with a remark of my awareness. I build my own systems, do my own networking and work other jobs at the same time so I made my request out of saving time researching and looking not to blow too much money on and old system that works fine but would be a waste of a vid card that was way above it's capacities.
    Imperion I am looking a hundred or less for cost for this system. Otherwise I'd probably be better off to just upgrade and build a new system.
    Thanks for all the suggestions guys
