    Real World Benchmarks

Rendered this 3d comp I created on 3DS Max v.9 on three different systems I have.
    Q6600 clocked at 3.15
    E6600 clocked at 3.15
    X2 3800 clocked at 2.6
All using XP 64, 4 gigs of memory, latest drivers, bios etc.
    Q took 1 hour 50 minutes.
    E took 3 hours 31 minutes
    X2 took 5 hours 42 minutes.

Not quite photo realistic, but getting there I think.

Dang man that's some sick work! Though it doesn't look photo realistic enough to look like a real tractor, it looks photo realistic enough to be a highly detailed metal scale model. Awesome job on that!

Sweet man getting there! I think you might need to tweak the normals on the front bumper maybe though? That's about the only part that doesn't look smooth.

! Very VERY nice!! My vote is for the one on the bottom. The glass looks better. Looks great, except I'm not sure how real those bright white spots on the ash tray look. A little too solid white. Otherwise. Freakin awesome!

The reflection on the left of the ashtray is very close, but the two in the middle are as stated. But the bottom ashtray is more realistic but the red lines under the cigar where it rests on the lip, should be shadowed out like in the top one.

The camera angle is much better for the glass in the 2nd picture, but like the ashes floating in the top one.

The hand shadow is Fantastic in my book.

In this case, I would have to pick the 2nd picture because the camera angle is better for the table top and the glass.

Heck I wish I could have done that good when I way playing with Moray and PovRay.

The hand could also be a bit bigger, otherwise, that's a freakin huge glass lol.

Thanks for the input guys. Nice to have some other eyes on it. This is the final. Skin on the hand is giving me a fit. Can't get the color right. Just going to live with it for now.

Not as far off as you think!

My book, you did real fine with it.
Overall, I find your graphic fantastic.

After having seen beer glasses up to the 5 liters size. I find nothing wrong with yours.

Much better tweakage there. Skin color looks fine to me, remember everyone's color is different.

@Train... The reason I thought the glass was too big was the proportion of circumference/height of the glass to the size of the hand. It just looked like an awkwardly wide, short glass.

Looks great now though. Awesome work!

Think the angle and the focal length of the camera "lens" settings are causing the big glass effect. Quick draft render to see the comparative sizes:
