    OCZ R2 2gig kit question

I've added 2x1 gig sticks of OCZ PL rev 2 ram to my pc which holds 2x512 of OCZ PL (rev 1).

When i use CPU-Z to get my ram details, my revision 2 ram is clocked lower than my rev 1 ram.

Also, the rev 2 ram serial code reads FFFFFFFFFFFFF and the date of manufacture is 186/186

The values on my 512 dimms read fine.

Question: Is it simply an issue with CPU-Z not being able to read the config area properly, or not having the data, or is it faulty ram?

If i run an orthos test, i will get an error anywhere from 2-10 minutes in.

if you would like screenshots let me know.

    thanks,

Which version of CPU-Z are you using? Is it the latest version?

You did not answer the question:

Which version are you using? The latest is version 1.41:

Your ram has not been added to the tech data in cpuid.

    Train,

Thank you VERY much for this. (i should have checked there myself)

I also thank you for taking the time to actually read my post (properly) without misreading, jumping to conclusions, and then trying to make me feel like a complete idiot without any computer experience what so ever.

Now it's a little old, but I think there are other issues relating to your questions. I have two rigs running the same ram and have had no problem with cpu-z showing serial number, date etc.
As to this memory, it does not like to be mixed with other different modules, size, speed etc. I tried to mix 2 sticks with 2 sticks of OCZ Gold, created at lot of problems. The tech guy at OCZ upgraded my gold to plat at no charge because of the problems. Mixing can actually slow your system down.
It also likes voltage set at 2.0 or above to run at it's rated speed. The default timings are a little loose, on my E6600/AW9D-Max combo I am running 2 gigs at 13-4-4-4, 1:1, 370 FSB. On my Q6600/P5W-DH Del combo, running 4 gigs at 10-4-4-2-3, 1:1, 300 FSB.

    Hey Mobo57,

Thanks a ton for that info.

Very odd indeed, now i'm worried.

The interesting thing to note is, i figured i would try throwing in 2x1gb of rev1 OCZ PL.

I was playing WiC and kept crashing on a certain area with a page fault in non paged area bsod.

I decided to remove the rev2 and replace with revision 1.

So far no crashes after running a few hours straight. (no didn't run stress test under full load, only ran that **** game)

interstingly enough, even my Revision 1 ram has same details as the rev 2. No serial numbers, and date of Manufacture is 186/186.

If you would like screenshots let me know (lemme know how to post them, im not big on picture posting)

Running this on an Asus p5n-e sli 0401 Bios rev i beleive.

thanks again for the info going to run with it and see what happens.

Here are some screenshots from cpuz.

Mainboard and SPD info from my 512mb of ocz pl vs ocz pl 1GB

(i swapped the ram with non rev 2 to see what would happen)

    same thing though.

Maybe leaning towards a mobo issue? BIOS upgrade, not sure if i should bother.
