Transfering XP to a new drive

I haven't don this in a while and decided to just use the WD Data Tools that came with the drive. I am transferring fron an IDE to a SATA drive and notice something funny when I get into Windows. I click on Outlook from the left side of the Start Menu I get the box asking me what program I want to use to run this. But, If I go through all the program menus to where MS Office is, it runs fine from there. I deleted it from the left side of the Start menu, added it again, and still get the same dialog box. This makes me wonder what else may not have transferred properly so I went back to the IDE drive.

This leaves me with two questions:

    1. Anything special need to be done when transferring from IDE to SATA?

    2. Is there anothe way to transfer to the new drive that is more reliable?

All you really need to do is use Detect and Repair in the Help menu in any Office app. Those shortcuts are not standard. They are special because you can right-click them for specific advanced options without actually opening an Office app.

Ghost or True Image would do a little better, but the drive maker's tool works pretty well.
