Trouble After Bootup: Missing systray and desktop. Need help.

I need help figuring this out: I have a neighbors computer here and after bootup the desktop icons, system tray are missing and the system is unresponsive for about 2 minutes after which all of a sudden the icons, systray and mouse cursor then appear.
I have tried turning on/off programs in msconfig. Scanned and found Trojan. Shuffled boot sequence around. The odd thing is the 2 minutes it takes for everything to come up.
    Anybody heard of this before?

Sounds like more viruses/spyware still hiding in the system.

Run Spybot, Counterspy, and a good registry cleaner like Registry Booster.

Sounds as if there's an A/V set to scan the system at bootup everytime. Possibly two A/Vs installed and running at the same time - a definite no-no.
Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!

I will definately have to look further into a possible hidden virus. I have scanned with Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, AVG, Trojan Remover, Windows Defender, RegCleaner, AWC V2. All these are freeware so I'm not entirely sure how reliable they are... probably good. The Trojan that was found was Generic5.GKZ hidden in the myqleiy.dll of the system32 folder. Only one AV running though... that's elementary.
Any more ideas?? I'm all out...

You'd be surprised how many HJT logs I see with two or more running, don't laugh.

myqleiy.dll looks like Virtualmundo infection, not sure.

    Try Security Taskmanager:

    http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/

You can Google each task to find out what it is used for.

All those programs you have mentioned are weak.

Download and install the trial version of NOD32: www.eset.com, update the definition files, scan and delete.

Also install the trail version of counterspy.

These are the best-of-the-best, why bother with anything else I do not understand.

A good registry cleaner is Ace Utilities: www.acelogix.com
