    POwer supply question + System config

    question. iI want to get AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail with a GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3 Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 ATX AMD Motherboard .

    1. do you guys think that it is a good combo ? (upgrading from a p4 2.6ghz)
    2. Will i notice the diference?
    3. is a 480Watts Power supply enough for what iam about to get?
    4. Is the price any good for both items? or can i get more power for the same amount of money?

    1. Yes it should be a good combo.
    2.) Only if you have programs that can use the dual processors.
    3.) Maybe, maybe not. It depends on the other items in the computer and what kind of power supply the mobo requires.
    4.) Not a bad price.

    If you're sticking with the onboard video and not getting anything crazy, that power supply should be more than enough provided it's not a cheap generic brand.

    As far as the price, I got an X2 4200+ and a nVidia 6100 based ECS board for $99 a couple weeks ago before AMD dropped their prices a few days ago. I'd say your price isn't bad but isn't great either.

    It's a good deal - not GREAT, but good. I checked Newegg, and the price of the CPU & mobo together with shipping is about the same. It depends a little bit on who the merchant is. There are some I wouldn't trust.
    Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!
