    AGP meets DX10

Looks like Saphire is still supporting that lingering AGP slot that many of us (including me) still use. Looks like us AGP users will get to see DX10 with the Radeon HD 2600 pro & xt

Read the list and found this bit.

    Well was hoping.

Well, as to why I guess it is because people have AGP rigs that are still pretty fast.

My back-up rig has a 4400+, 2 gigs of ram, and an AGP 6800GT. Now I am not looking to go DX-10 on my back-up, but my back-up rig is better than quite a few "main" rigs. AGP is still fast enough to handle the load so.

I am not going to a DX-10 card until I need to and I won't need to for quite some time.

I am hoping that by the time I "need" a DX10 card, the prices will be more affordable and DX-10 will have matured into its second generation.

I have a better question. Why are people buying DX-10 cards and not upgrading to Vista? Yeah I know......FPS but if you are not running Vista you are not running DX-10.

I guess it is all in preference.

I want to upgrade to a newer computer but, cannot justify it. The computer in my sig an my second one are similar accept for different mobos, and I haven't played one game yet that I couldn't play at max detail at 1280x1024 (mind you i dont use AA but i max out AF). Maybe when I find a game that crushes my comp then i may upgrade and abondon AGP.

exactly what BadDriver said most people are still using AGP rig, that are way more decent that your average Dell (and alikes) using PCI-E slots.

I think most ppl, including myself will consider a new system when DirectX10 matures a bit, and quad cores become cheaper and more mainstream.

The 2600XT is NOT faster than a 1950Pro.

I imagine it would be in a directx 10 designed game, but we have nothing to prove that i suppose, I would like to see a 2900 make to agp then I may feel real temptation.
I wonder if nvidia is going to follow suit an send us some more AGP cards? I do feel ATI is smart for this, there are still agp users still to be milked...

I'm glad there are AGP versions of HD 2600 and HD 2400, I'm going to put one in my nForce2 HTPC someday. Any suggestions for a quiet but capable PSU for this?

I have the same setup in the family room that BadDriver has for a backup, and my sentiments are the same. I'm upgrading it to Vista Home Premium (with the M$ $50 offer, I already bought Vista Ultimate for this machine) and if an AGP card is made to handle DX10 I'd be crazy not to get one. Sure be cheaper than building yet another computer just for the PCI-E slot, and that 4400 is still hands-down better than a lot of store-bought computers.
Thank God we're not getting all of the government we're paying for!

Dang, missed my edit. I'm not even buying it for DX10 (as I'm on WinXP MCE05) but just for HD decoding.
