Hooya!
Second HD suddenly data gone... Very strange occurence
Earlier i was doing some dinking around with my MS styles program and wanted to change a pic. or wallpaper, and went into my second HD, which i have pics. in both drives ( MAIN AND SECONDARY ), and come to find out the drive is wiped out ( no data ) and wants to format the drive. WHATTTT...???
The only thing i can think of is one of my registry cleaners i ran earlier may have done this some how, but highly unlikely. it is a good program...
I was just trying to find some pics. i have saved on that drive ( have pics. on both drives ) to use as wallpaper, and i got nothing on the drive. This is real twilight zone stuff my friends...
I nver ever had anything like this hapen before ever, or even close.
If indeed all the data is gone.., cleaning that drive or deleting the data from ones system would take quite some time. It is an 80 GB drive. Nothing wrong with it, or anything leading up to any problems. I'm sure it works fine.
Am wojndering if I should do as one guy here in this forum posted about two weeks ago, and run some program to get the data on the HD back. Problem is I don't know if anything is left on that drive to recover. Am also wondering if this might be a registry problem created somehow and when you click the drive, a clitch is there created by whos knows what.
Everything i have as far as programs and other like loaders, and some loaded games ( about half of what i have loaded were on that drive, and many zip files also.
Unlike alot of you, i can live with it eventually. most eveything i can load and save again i'm sure. Its just i am like most of you. I cannot remember 80 per cent of what was on that drive.. That is what hurts the most.
If needed at this point, please direct me to which program to download and run for data recovery, or what not. Also, i realize many many times we get told to backup these things.. but i mostly never do. If a drive goes bad, i figure esp. on secondary drives, no big deal ... The drive is fine i know... although six years old. (WD caviar ..IDE drive )
Geeze Louise!... I guess its getting a bit more wierd all the time , just clicking whatever. I am not brain dead. This is just plain twilight zone stuff.
I got up tinking its a Wednesday and something would go wrong as per usual for me, AND IT CERTAINLY DID.., didn't it?

Hooya!
I'm sorry.. good news I talked to a friend of mine and he said possibly i might have bumped my machine or something to that effect.... and said he had this happen, and opened the box..,unhooked the drive and plugged it back in again. I just did that and 'everything suddenly showed up on the drive.
What concerns me is why did this happen?? I know HD's can be touchy at times, but the drive did register in 'MY Computer' so i'm still kind of perplexed..,but no worries.
feel kind of like a fool for writing such a long post about it..LOL Oh well.. nobody responded anyways...

Be happy about it. Now burn your data on CDs.
