DEP Stops Windows Explorer then System Crashes
Tough one. Recently Microsoft Desktop Search became installed on my main system, must have had a bad day to allow that to happen. After a couple of days I un-installed the bugger, just a royal pain. Now Windows Explorer keeps crashing my system with a DEP error. Ran an off line scan with a clean BART PE disk with the latest AVG, Kaperski, Trendmicro, Spysweeper and Spybot. All came up clean. Had to go into advance settings and set Explorer as an exception to the DEP. Problem is some of my other programs must use part of the Explorer shell, because I am getting the DEP notice and stop when I use something like an import or file open command. And I noticed that I cannot disable DEP. Googled it and I am not the only one with this problem. Seems that there is no real fix out there except what I have done.
Any thoughts? Desktop search is not an option.

Sounds like time for a wipe and reload.

UGH....Just got done doing that a couple of weeks ago, before all of this started.... Do it every 6 months or so. Even with images of most of my applications on a external drive it takes most of a day to do.
Note to self: Research ALL MS updates before installing.
Gotten to know Rakesh in Mumbai very well.
