    New graphics card

I'm looking into getting a new graphics card.

I have an X800 pro just now. Which is fine....but I want better.

I want AGP. Probably looking at nvidia though. They seem to be the best just now.

Any recommendations? About the £200 mark is my budget...or preferrably less

    porsch1909,

You are going to have to up your budget to gain any noticeable performance in AGP.

Wait for the X1950 Pro in AGP to come out, or the 7900GT in AGP.

May I make a suggestion and say that you should go PCI or PCI-e, if you can. Both are faster than AGP.

not many people wants to change their Motherboard, only so they can upgrade the video card.

like me last year, i was drolling over all the new Video cards, yet i couldn't get any cuz i was on AGP, and all the new Beasties were all PCI-E

so PCI-E is not really an option for most people.

the only good time to suggest a PCI-E is when people are upgrading their whole system

Most mobo's have PCI. Even that is faster than AGP.

I know because of my recent upgrade from my old AGP Radeon 7000 to my new nVidia Ge Force 4000 MX.

I know the Raedon is older, but look

    PCI isn't faster than AGP.

I was about to ask him what he was smoking and if I could have some

So the consensus is that I will get no noticeable performance increase without spending a lot more money.

I think I will pass on the upgrade just now.

My ol' X800pro was once the best graphics card on sysopt, but I have been priced out the market with all this fancy cross fire and SLI and dual core and 64 bit stuff

To be honest though the X800 pro still plays everything I've thrown at it. And I don't really game that much any more. I was hoping a wee upgrade might change that however

Will completely redo the computer in the summer. All singing and all dancing.

    Thanks for all your help!

Save myself money? Not with the sort of demand these things are in over this side of the pond. £500 they are retailing on ebay for AFAIK.

With the PS3 not being released here until March...the Wii is the must have item and the first delivery has already been goggled up. I think I might put a pre-order in the second delivery...

Sound like a great gaming councoul (sp?) and is great value for money.

What are your system specs maybe there is something else you could upgrade right now?

That X800 pro is a good card. With the exception of no PS3.0 support, but PS3.0 is an old standard now that Nvidia has released the 8800 series. Honestly, I would wait and do a big upgrade to your computer once the new line of cards is in the mainstream.

Yes it is a good card.

My old machine has one in it and yes I played everything fine except TRL in next generation.
