    Asus P5V-VM DH Overclocking etc

    Hi all,

I have just got a new system with the following:
    450Watt Silenced PSU
    Asus P5V-VM DH
    Core Duo 1.86GHz 2MB L2 Cache(Allendale core)
    Corsair 667Mhz DDR2
Point of View 7950GT 512MB PCIe
160GB IDE (will get SATA2 soon and put 2 drives in raid)
    16x DVD Write

I am pretty new to these intel boards, so I thought I would just query the following:

    - How would I got about changing the vcore as it seems to be locked?
    - I used cpuz and it shows it as 1.86GHz(or round about) which seems fine though I still think it sluggish even though I have turned off smartstep.

I have found that the FSB will only go upto 300Mhz, but from what I have read most other boards will go upto 500Mhz. Also my memory will only go upto 533Mhz.

Personally I think it may just be a **** board as most of the standard settings seem to missing from the bios.

If I need to get a new board then can anyone recommend something which is overclocker friendly.

Any advice you can give will be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    "ASUS C.P.R.(CPU Parameter Recall)
SFS (Stepless Frequency Selection) from 133MHz up to 300MHz at 1MHz increment
Adjustable FSB/DDR ratio. Fixed PCI-E/SATA frequencies."

what you purchased was a Digital Theatre PC board, its not going to be as good of a overclocker as most ones are.

I have still done ok on 3dmark06 though, I got 5362 which is not bad. I think once I get a new board I will be laughing. Also my processor is running at 21'c, so there should be lots of overclocking potential.
