    Wireless quality options

Are there any differences between the quality of wireless devices in laptops? In other words, if I'm dissastisfied with the consistency of my wireless connection can I buy a different laptop/NIC to improve connectivity, or are all wireless connectors the same? ...thanks

Yes there are differences. Usually, the more you pay for a NIC, the better it will work. You should use similar brand names for the router and NIC, but that seems to have less impact.

You get what you pay for.

This card is one of the best.

It has a power amplifier that makes it more sensitive, and when needed it can be connected to an external Antenna.

Power out amplification has nothing to do with sensitivity but that is definitely a quality wireless client card.
