    Help picking a PSU

Hello,This is my very first post here.I joined this forum;because I've been reading post on here for a week now.And this seems to be a very well informed forum.

Okay, here's the deal.I'am wanting help deciding on a PSU.
    Here's my PC specs:
    AMD Sempron 64 3400+ 2.0GHz Socket:754
    motherboard: FIC K8MC51G
    100GB (7200rpm)WD Harddrive
    2GB of 400MHz (PC3200)Patriot signature line memory
300-watt bestec(right now until I upgrade)I'am not even currently using this PC .Because the PSU won't power my upgrades.
I originally had a Sempron 3100+ 1.8GHz processor and a NVIDIA Geforce 6100 video card
    Video card that's installed now: GeForce 7300GT 256MB PCI-E x 16

Okay, take into consideration that I plan to add another harddrive.
    It'll be a 200GB (7200rpm)

    Here's my PSU budget: $75-$135.00(max)

Thanks for any and all suggestions & advise,Clint

I don't know about Rosewill quality - two DOAs in 13 reviews.

This is high quality and probably puts out as much as the Rosewill despite it's rating. Fortrons always exceed their ratings. I'm sure that it's quieter.

whatever you do stay far far away from the Enermax Liberty series, alot of doas and failures after a few months with those if you read the reviews on them

Now that we've mentioned suggestions, let's look at your needs. You're only running a Sempron, 2GBRAM and an entry-level 3D card. You have 1 HDD, plan on adding another, maybe 2 optical drives. Your current rig with the extra drive doesn't require more than 350W of quality power. That said, it's a good idea to go a bit overboard on the PSU in case you want to go to dual-core with SLI down the road. In that case, a 500-600W PSU is a good idea because you won't even have to think about it at all.

Still, if you don't plan on any major upgrades and need to save money, just pick up any decent 400W power supply.

    Well,inpoint.Here's my plan's
    Adding:
    another harddrive
    and
    a 7600GT OC PCI-E x 16 video card by BFG Tech
    I'd prefer 500-550w PSU's
    Any that come to mind?

    What about the Enermax 500W Liberty @ $109: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817194003

I've used Enermax PSU's for a long time and i'm currently an Enermax NoiseTaker 485W w/ no complaints.

It would be cheaper to build the computer yourself, but the choice is yours. And personally, i dont like any computers that are pre-fabbed like eMachines and such, they always break down. And their tech support isnt all that great either.

He is *not* totally wrong. Search this forum for "emachines" and you will find scads of people who have had their power supplies fail and take out other stuff with it. It's a very common problem.

Gateway bought eMachines recently. Maybe their quality has improved, but don't count on it. If you buy one, it would be cheap insurance to replace the bundled power supply with a quality Fortron (FSP) of similar rating. You could wait until the warranty expires, but don't forget. Take it to heart.

Emachines are what theye are: cheap machines. for some they work well for some they are constant headaches. They weren't meant to be 100% reliable...just cheap.
