Is your PC ready for Blue ray and HD DVD?
Here is a diagnostic tool that helps you find out:

The tool is free, but in beta.

BD and HD will probably have heavy DRM in it. Burners may not be able to easily copy movies. If you're planning on using it for storage, you might as well get another hard drive.

I'm not even going to bother with it. Since they will be heavy with DRM as MK says and Blu Ray won't even play a factory movie, why bother? I will wait til the format war is lost ( no real winners but the makers and it's a cash cow for them ) and then eventually decide on a player.

Yeah, i'll say that tool is in beta alright... It says my Opteron 146 @ 2.8GHz isn't good enough.

It's not going to make too much of a difference on a PC!

I'll stick to dvds thanks as you would need to get combined drive which was about £900 the last time I checked, so god know what internal pc drives would cost.

Those discs better hold a ****load for even storage to be worth it...Last I looked WD 7200rpm 250GB HDDs were 52 bucks a peice for SATA 54 for IDE. Unless you need more then about 5TB of storage a grand for a drive isn't a good investment lol.
