Sounds like something is physically wrong with the disc. If so, all the cleaning in the world won't help it. Can you just download the software from the HP website and install it from the .exe? (Note: you don't need to install all of HP's bloated software, just the printer driver is required to get the printer up and running)

There are plenty of technical resources on the Web that discuss cyclic redundancy checks (CRCs). Most times you won't need to worry about this technobabble. That is, until one it day it suddenly appears and you think - what the hell does that mean? In simple terms, a CRC is bit of mathematics used to ensure that your data is OK when being transfered. It's a checking procedure that quickly identifies when data has been damaged. If you get this message, it means that the file being read by your PC or software is corrupted. However, it does not mean all the data is lost forever. When data is transfered, it is usually in small blocks and each block is given a CRC value. If something goes wrong with the data between the time it leaves the source and arrives at its destination, the CRC sent at the source will no longer match the one that is calculated when the data arrives - this is when the cyclic redundancy check error will appear.http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/cy...edundancy.html

Is the CD readable in another cd drive?

Every time I have run across this error it has been the drive at fault, not the CD.

I'll check that later on this evening, I did read up about that CRC error, I honestly never seen it untill lastweek, so of course I had to educate my self incase I have a customer with the same issue. allot of what I did read points to the CD-Drive but I havent had any problems with that drive installing games and OS's and apps.

Try slowing down the CD Drive Read Speed
Sometimes that works .. if not, go to the HP
Site and download the file again and either
install from the Hard Drive or Burn to a cd
    and install from there

It seems with me when I run across it, it is a cd drive not reading a burned CD correctly, maybe not the drive but possibly. I usually put in another that will read it right, at least temporarily.
