The IBM server flash ad does slow down machines. I've noticed it on the dual Xeon machine I'm on right now, running Mozilla browser. Whether it is poorly coded or not, I'm not sure, but CPU usage spikes when it is displayed, even scrolling the browser is choppy, entering text while it is being displayed is slowed as well. I've disabled flash to get rid of that major annoyance.

There have been a few that had problems using like 50% or maxxing out the CPU's.
They have been reported though.

The IBM ad slows my machine too, and it's a p4@3.4ghz with a gig of ram. It's been reported and will be dealt with.

Can't Jupiter Media screen these ads before putting them on the site? I don't mind small ones that don't cover the text, flash enough to send an epileptic into a Gran Mal seizure or are just plain annoying. Do you guys ever consider these things when accepting an ad? Just a thought.

The IBM ones are now a known issue, so I expect it to be dealt with soon.

Glad to hear that, but that still begs the question, do you actually screen ads before putting them up? If not, why not? Also, while I'm not epileptic, some of the ads that flash could induce seizures. Maybe a policy on them not flashing at all or changing slower so that it doesn't cause trouble and is at the least, less annoying.

Has anyone seen this IBM ad since yesterday? I don't seem to be getting it now.
