Unable to connect to the internet with new system build

Here is the specs for the system I just built:
    Pentium 950
    Asus P5N32-SLI Deluxe Mobo
    Corsair XMS Pro PC6400 DDR2 (2gig)
    Enermax NoiseTakerII 600w PSU
    Evga GeForce 7900 GT KO

I just installed Windows XP Pro with SP2 on my new system along with this board.

All my hardware is fully installed. When I have the Cat5 cable from my router plugged into Lan1, I get an orange light. I set up my network connections in XP, nothing.

I popped in the Asus Support CD last night and installed the driver for the Marvel Yukon Ethernet or whatever. It installed and I now have a little network icon on my System Tray showing that a network cable is unplugged. The Lan1 port is still orange.

Am I missing something here? I set up my connection through 'Network Connections' and am still unstable to get connected.

    Thanks for any advice guys.
    My home-grown system:
    Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
    Northwood 3.2 - OC to 3.6
    1 gig Corsair XMS
    Aspire X-Dreamer II Case
    PNY GeForce 6800 128mb
    74gig Raptor SATA
    200gig Caviar SATA
    Audigy 2 ZS

Make sure that you are not using a crossover cable by mistake *or* plugging your patch cable into an uplink port.

    Try another cable too.

Test the PC by bypassing the router too.

That is probably a dual LAN board. Try plugging into the other ethernet port on the back of the computer.

In General, you can debug the Network Setting of the computer following these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer's Device Manager. Make sure that the drivers are installed correctly; there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two. Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify
If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack. http://www.ezlan.net/clean#refreshnet
