Part fell out of a PC

My mom was cleaning out her computer (physically with canned air). At first I thought it was the heatsink or something for the CPU but obviously it wasn't after I opened it up. Looks to me like it goes over whatever that green square is. I went to just pop it back in, but unfortunately one of the anchors fell out with it. What is this and how critical is it? Thanks.

That is the Northbridge chips set heatsink.

It can be very important that it be replaced because it makes the system more stable by keeping the temps lower on the chipset.

You can go to Radio Shack and get a tube of thermal epoxy (not thermal compound). Epoxy will dry and stick the heatsink permanently. Thermal compound will not stick when the chip gets hot.
