hi, wats the difference between a Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO² 256MB DDR3 PCI-Express and a Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO, wats with the number 2 above the O?
also when purchasing a motherboard what is the difference between a
PCI Express x16 , PCI Express x1 and a PCI Express x4?
which expansion port would this card go in?

Those are the different PCI-E slots. Your card would go in the PCI-E x16. Not sure about the difference between those cards though.

All PCIe video cards are PCIe x16 right now. it's a moot point.

LOL! I used to have one (non 3-d card) back in the day and it was my favorite out of all the 2-d cards we had. It looked the best on software rendering.

I had a MillenniumII back in the day, but Matrox hasn't been a mainstream powerhouse for years. If you are going to buy a new card, chances are it will be nvidia or ati and they only have PCIe x16, not x4 or x1.

The GTO2 can unlock the additional 4 pipelines, giving 16 pipelines. The GTO only has the 12 pipelines. Its not actually worth trying to unlock the extra 4 pipelines though.
Checking @ Newegg, the GTO2 cards have a lower review rating than the GTO cards.
