    Need video card advice

Okay I really don't know why I put myself in these situations but it's from a lack of research and rushing to spend the money. I have a HP A1110N Pavillion with you guessed it NO AGP slot , man what is wrong with them and no AGP slots. I have 3 PCI slots , 1 taken up by the 56k modem , so what is the recommended video card for this type of system. I don't feel like swapping out the motherboard just for a simple video card. Right now I have 64mb's onboard sharing , intel extreme garbage. Not looking to play the top dog games. Maybe a 128mb PCI whatever.

The ATI 9250 PCI would probably be your best bet.

Some of the low end HPs don't have the PCIe slot soldered in. Same with the low end Compaqs.

I'm really starting to dislike my decisions about buying computers. This will probably be my last name brand computer I buy.

don't forget to make those recovery cds also. HPs have a recovery partition (press f10 during boot). if your hdd goes south, you'll be up the creek.

Get a new motherboard, not to be blunt or anything it would be in your best interest to replace the motherboard, it will give you more options in the future should you want to upgrade more.

Nvidia has a pci 5500 that I think you can still get from newegg that has 256megs of ram. At best your gonna be at dated graphics but it would be alot better then what ya got now. Here is a BFg 5500 pci they also have some 128 ones a little cheaper.

replacing the mb would kill the HP restore. not really an option unless you want to buy another OS.

you can try looking for that 6200 PCI or even a 5700LE, but i heard they're scarce.

As you found out you have a turkey. But it's a Celeron D which isn't that bad.
I would think that you could throw the fastest PCI video card at it that you could find.

Oh, and don't buy a video card based on its on-board memory. The marketeers know that they can move weak cards off the shelf if they stick more memory on them.

A 6200 can no more use 512MB than I can fly to the moon out my backyard!
