AVG not updated in 3 weeks

I use AVG Anti-Virus. It updates every day. I went on vacation for 3 weeks and just got back. I thought it would have a lot of updates needed. When I went to update, it said no new updates available. Why are there no updates available after 3 weeks? Thank you,
    Chris.

I looked at two places and both rate AVG better then the two you suggested.

    AVG forums don’t count.

I also saw a review that said sony was the best dvd burner you can buy too. Although that was the only roundup that even had sony in the top ten. Go figure. Oh yeah, when you went to the home page it said sponsored by sony before you actually made it the the home page *cough* techtv *cough*.

Believe what you want, but I’ve had to much bad experience with avg. I’m sure there are a few peeps here that can say the same. To tell you the truth, I can’t think of a single av that I would choose avg over.

You could always shop the Sunday adds and find yourself a decent internet security package and get all your money back in a couple of weeks. You know they’re trying to get ride of the 05 units on the shelves.

What ever floats your boat. I guess viruses are your thing. Lmfao.

I disagree... AVG is a very good AV for free and I don't doubt it was rated better. It finds viruses even before you know a file somehow got in your temp folder.

I used to use AVG and never had any real problems with it. I switched to AntiVir a while back to try something new and have been pleased so far. Works great!

BTW...I like my Sony DRU-810A just fine.

Its been my experience with AVG free, it can be a week or more before a new def file is available. I've seen AntiVir update its def's on the server several times a day. But, 3wks is a long time. I would reinstall AVG or try another as a 2nd opinion.

I wouldn't bicker over which is the best free AV at the mo , since reviews are not very reliable . If your AV def's are least a week old you should be fine. Unless your the type who clicks on everything and opens anything without question.

Its better to get a 2nd opinion these days ,anyways. Use a 2nd AV manually to scan or an online scanner on a regular basis. There is always the chance your main AV can get disabled or miss an infection .

You can go to AVG's web site and manually download the need updates.
Good Luck It's been working fine for me and I really can't complain it is free.

it may be that AVG is set to update itself automatically every seven days - or was your computer disconnected?

Mine has been updating so I don't know why yours didn't. This is where my AVG goes to update:

That is the same url my avg free 7.0 goes to .. it says you can not
update the url except in Pro, but if you double click it, it will bring up
the properties of the url & you can type in url box .. so you can
    change it (if needed)

Mine usually updates daily as long as the pc isn't in standby. Anything that takes it out of standby will trigger a check for an update. 1Chris, maybe yours did the same when XP or other software phoned home. Check the date in the lower right corner or the window and see if it's near the present date.

    1. have used AVG on at least 9 computers, dektops, notebooks and it has always worked great for me

    2. I also do TrendMicro's Housecall once a week online, and have spyware loaded everywhere

    3. Got an idea - why don't you simply uninstall and reinstall it?
