    Acer 5002 WLCi... ok laptop?

hey- unsure if this is the right forum for a notebook question.

    http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/as5000.htm

my girlfriend is looking at a getting a laptop for general word processing, email
and light web surfing. she doesn't need a blazing fast notebook with
a massive hard drive and cookin' graphics.

what does anyone know about the Turion 64 cpu in this unit and are there any
issues with overheating? also: battery life and tons of ram aren't a concern.

    thnx,

battery life IS important and a mediocre review (and DON"T get XP Home - it sucks) - ought to be a concern - their's tons of laptops out there - very competitive

link here - 6.6 out of ten ain't so hot

I'll noodle around for you and try a suggestion or two in same price range....just bought me a great 1 year old Dell laptop on eBay for less than $500; 1.6 CPU 30 gig drive 1.6 processor, great display, NVidia graphics, and great battery life - your girlfriend deserves better right?

anither review to answer CPU question - they talk about the Dell 6000 - Dell's always runing specials but again get XP Pro, and try to make sure if you travel or you're a student you get both integrated LAN and wireless if possible?

    have fun shopping

    laptop links

thanks for the fast reply. maybe the Acer is not the way to go.
once again she's not too concerned about battery life as it won't be
leaving her place much but the brighter LCD display would be sweet tho.

suprised that the AMD 64 bit cpu is outperformed by an older tech cpu
    in the same performance range...

    thnx again rmanet.
