Will Windows XP Professional (32 bit) run on a 64 bit board and processor?

I would guess at 75% of those with 64 bit CPU's still use Windows XP 32

Related question - is there a major performance improvement in using the 64-bit version of XP with an Athlon 64 X2?

I'm still on Win2K - thinking of migrating to XP.

Also, does the same support exist for 64-bit XP as for 32-bit XP and is it otherwise seemless to all else? In other words, all apps are still compatible, right?

I dont think there is too much improvement. I tried windows 64 myself and it does seem to work faster...but benchmarks seem about the same...some here

I never had a problem with any software I was using,,,but did have some issues trying to find ADSL modem drivers. Most 32 bit applications run just as well

Sooner or later...applications and games will be programmed with 64bit in mind...which will definitely give a performnace boost. Not many as yet as most of the world is still running 32 bit PC's and op systems. I gota say though...you can tell you are using 64 bit...man its snappy! Movies and music load and play on a click...without any delay...never really played any games.
I'm going to install a new hard drive tomorow hopefully and I will be installing windows 64 on that drive to give it a long try. Hey...its 64 bit...why not use it
