Need extension cable from front audio

Does anybody know where I might find a 9-pin extension cable for the front panel audio header connection? It does not reach the connector on my new mobo. The case is a Lian-Li case and is rather large.

    Thanks.

Need more information such as either a photo of the required connector
or the motherboard or sound card that this cable is getting attached to

I might be able to find one or make one up for you .. I am in NJ
Or optionally, decide how much extra length you need & splice in
the extra wires .. slip heat shrink tubing over the wires, do a spiral
wrap & solder, then shrink the tubing .. best if you stagger the connections

Ok, sure - here is the same type of cable that is currently in place.

    Details found at ....

    http://www.frontx.com/cpx503.html

I'm basically seeking the same cable, but with a male connector on one end. Or a male/male adapter would also work, if such a product exists.

I'd think it has to be out there - I can't be the only guy who has a big case and a mobo with the header placed a bit too far away and who doesn't prefer splicing cables

    Thanks.

    See the DIGIKEY catalog ...

    http://digikey.com/

    http://dkc1.digikey.com/US/PDF/T053/P3.html

Look at #0097.pdf (which I will attach)

You probably want the Dual Right Angle as the

pins on the right angle are longer than on the straight header

and if needed, you can either bend them out straight or

leave them the way they come (depends on how they fit)

The only problem with getting them here is the postage

Thanks for the exceptional detail - I'd actually not thought of simply going directly to a component supplier - is your suggestion to use the header to join two cables together?

I also have to look more closely if it's easy to order one with a pin omitted, as there is a blank on one pin of the cable connector (it's really a 10-pin connector with one pin location empty.)

    Thanks.

Yes, that is the easiest way ... If you look thru the Digikey catalog
you could also find the Female headers & the crimp pins & if you
wanted, could make a cable yourself to the exact length

The only thing you need to be sure about is the center to center
pin spacing on the existing connector

OK. I'll probably go the easy route and purchase the header and a second cable.

If you happen to think of, or come across, a company that makes custom cables, let me know.

    Thanks.

Look in the component section at FrontX for the connectors and male terminals...

I don't see any male terminals in the component section at FrontX - I'd also emailed them and asked if they had what I was looking for and they said they did not. Am I overlooking something?

    Thanx.

At the bottom of the page is the crimp "male terminals" ... seems to me all you need to do is convert one end of the double female cable to male that you posted from FrontX . The guides and help details listed on the site should give you enough info .

    Rocketmech,

While what you are suggesting is easy & will work, it will not be
reliable if he does not have the correct crimp tool for use with
the terminals ... That is why I initially said to just get a Male-Male Header
to join the two cables together

If he doesn't have a crimper , then small needle nose pliers will do well enough . This is alot of fuss over what could be done with a few wire nuts. lol Personally I would have gone with your first suggestion... splice , solder and sleeve it , done !
