    usb2 hard drive

    Hi there,

I have just got myself a USB2 hard drive and the problem is that when I restart the computer or turn it on in the morning it does not recognise the drive. I have to swith it off and then back on again. I am running WINXP Pro.

    Best regards

    make and model?

    are you using SP2?

did you try updating the chipset drivers?

did you disable system restore for the external drive?

Try updating the motherboard BIOS and then disabling "Legacy USB" in BIOS setup.

Hi there, in the system restore there is no setting for the external drive. I am using xp sp2 and the mobo is a asrock k7s8x v3. Will look in the bios.

    Cheers for the help.
