Yeah... I am impressed.. before the defrag nothing was basicly wrong with my speed or operation.. but its amazing to me atthe difference now. Just fast as snot.

I remember looking at the onscreen diagram of the before when it started...and after it was like all uniform with little or no spaces left.

Obviously the best defrag program I have used to date.

PerfectDisk fan here. Tried DK9 and didn't like the way it kicks the XP defragger aside. Wanted to compare the two. Also the DK graphic, FWIW, showed "spaces" upon completion.

PerfectDisk will live alongside the XP defragger to allow comparison and it seems to be far superior.

On most systems, there will be some spaces. It is next to impossible to get a disk
fully defragmented & contiguos unless the following was done:

    1): Install the OS

2): Install the defrag program and run it

3): Install one program / app & run it again

4): Repeat step 3 until all apps are in place

I would think that is the only way to get the hard
drive in as much of a continuos, non fragemented state

The XP defragger is made by the same company as Diskeeper - Executive Software! It is a stripped out version of Diskeeper with less options for configuration\settings & it's based on a much older version too! So the two don't compare at all.

They don't really compare. But is there really a noticeable difference between the 2? I used to use diskeeper (demo) but have switched back to the XP defragger because I don't really notice a difference. I try to be objective and if I don't notice a difference; I go free. (with all the apps I use) I do keep a lean machine though. I use separate page file partitions that do not get fragmented. Maybe there is a difference on machines with more data?

Defragging is overrated...........I can't believe some of you guys are wasting your money on defrag software.

Download Sysinternals command-line defragger called Contig at:

    http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Contig.html

Now download a free UI non-command-line front end called Power Defragmenter GUI

    http://freeweb.siol.net/razor256/dow...gmenterGUI.zip

Put them in the same folder.

    The results are superb.

I thought I would give the Power Defragmenter suggestions a try!

The results even got a "congratulations" when analysed with Diskeeper!

I have never seen a partition defrag so fast, Less than 4 minutes for 30GB's of files! I'm amazed.

I've even see it reduce a defragged volume from 17% from O&O to zero using Power Defragmenter + contig is record time.

    Superb.

    This raises a curious question.

If in fact you have one defrag program which has run on yur computer...is it wise to use another? In my mind I see one systemwhich puts your disk a certainway and then if you use another...then no corruptions would occur??

After reading you guys success.. I want to give it a try myself....but I just ran one about three days ago..

I did download the programs in the link you gave G.

Diskeeper has left the building .......or at least it's been disabled in services anyway.

Thanks for the heads-up again G.
