New vid card
I'm looking in to getting a new video card but not sure what to get.
The card I have right now is a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis 256mb. The mother board that I have is an Asus K8V. Have a budget of around $300. What should I be looking at when looking for a card? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'd say a 6800GT or X800XL.

X800XL, this is the correct one? http://www.memoryexpress.com/index.p...6039&SID=35957
This maybe be a stupid question but, is there any difference between the ATI X800XL and the Sapphire?

Can't see those, since i have content filtering at work.
They are basically the same. Sapphire would probably be cheaper, so i'd go with that. I know sapphire makes a fatality and ultimate editions with zalman heatsinks on them. those look pretty dope.

Is it better to go with the APG over the PCI or vis versa? or theres not really any difference?

you can't use a PCIe card on your motherboard. you have to get an AGP.

oh didnt know that :P
when you get a new card you just pop out the old one, put the new one in and install the drivers?

I wouldn't. please look at the best of thread and use driver cleaner first, ESPECIALLY if you are switching between brands (Ati to nvidia, etc.)

I'd be staying with the same brands.
You use the driver cleaner, onces that done you remove the old card and put in the new card?

God I miss your bouncing tar nyte!
Yes brill, depending on your mobo and card, uninstall the drivers, remove the old card, install the new, and then boot. You will have to install the drivers for the new card at that time. Best way to do it.

please read the readme with driver cleaner.
uninstall the drivers, boot to safe mode, run driver cleaner. install the new card and drivers.
