    Installing Win XP

I have an older thinkpad 1400 series with win 98 on it. I would like to upgrade to win XP Pro like I have on my desktop. IBM Support site not very helpful. Anyone know if I can upgrade or am I dead in the water. I have a PCMCIA wifi card that is only compatible with win98se and up. Since I already have win xp disk, thought I could save some money instead of buying win98se upgrade. Thank you.

its a thinkpad 1412-211 with 366 processer and 256 memory

Yes that hardware will support WinXP and it will almost be fast enough without crawling.

You mentioned you already have a WinXP CD. Is it the same one you installed XP on your desktop? If it is, then it will not activate and XP will lock up after 14 days. You will need a second XP CD for the laptop.
