WHAT THE! The guys at THG overclocked a Pentium 4 to hit 5GHz!
Hi,
Did anybody read the article at THG that was about them overclocking a Pentium 4 to hit 5GHz. To make their Pentium 4 hit 5GHz they had to modify their motherboard for their 5GHz project and they used the craziest cooling method. If you did not see this article at THG yet I put a link below that links to the article at THG.

Yep...pretty amazing. However, you're about 8.25 months late.

7GHz!!! What did that crazy Japanese overclocker use for cooling? Liquid nitrogen or putting the components in a freezer? That Japanese overclocker broke THG's record of 5.25GHz.

I heard that the Pentium 4 would have to be 5.2GHz to beat the fastest Athlon 64 out there today in performance and benchmarks.

Did you bother to look at the link? If you did, you wouldn't be asking what kind of cooling they used.

I looked at the link. But I am not sure what cooling that Japanese overclocker used. But I see snow. I guess the Japanese overclocker put it in a freezer.

that's not snow. it's condensation. It's a LN2 setup. They say that right on the website.

Okay. Now my mind is clear on what that Japanese overclocker used for cooling.

That is alot of conden...at that point why not submerge the whole board in LN.
I have been wanting to take computer to lab at school and use Liq Hydrogen on it...hmm supper cold and flamiable. Or maybe a liq H and Oxy mixture...turn my pc into a rock or bomb...I kinda guess how the case is going to hold the exaust pressure. Either way give that H the Oxy it needs with a cpu that purduce heat and chance of electrical shortage and sparks.

Well it can be done without fancy frozen gas. What you need for cooling is a witch's teat in a brass brazier.

I recoken you could hit 5ghz in a Vapochill case.
I got 4.1 on water p4 3.0ghz north dont know if it will go higher but thats my sweet spot for ram dont think i would but..
Vapochill would have to get close if not over 5ghz..
