    Geforce 6800 Choice, Which would u get

    ok, this chart say that the 6800LE only has a couple pipeline closed so i was thinking of getting a LE but iv heard that the 6600GT can out perform the 6800LE, now that still means i can open up the pipes or OC or both but i want something for about $240. any suggestion as to wich version to get.

    get at least a 6800NU (non ultra). a 6600GT will beat an unmodded 6800LE an there is no guarantee that any pipes will unlock. there are some 6800NUs going for around $250. check newegg.

    with a 6800NU, worst case is a card on par with a 6600GT. best case, you get a card a little shy of a 6800GT.

    Save your cash, go for a GeForce 6600 GT, and overclock it for everything its worth. Newegg.com has the XFX branded model for $158 AR shipped - probably today only!

    The only downfall with that XFX its a bad overclocker I got one for a customer of mine didnt overclock well at all because of it having stock H/F we did mod it which did help but it ended up being an extra 30 bucks for the new H/F, if you can try go with MSI or BFG they come pre moded.

    So...im building a new system and so far this is what i have:

    ASUS "A8N-SLI Deluxe" nForce4 SLI

    AMD Socket 939 Athlon 64 3500+, 90nm, 2.2 GHz, 512KB L2 Cache 64-bit Processor - Winchester

    Mushkin Hi Perf LII V2 Dual Pack 184-Pin 1GB(512MB x 2) DDR PC-3200 w/ Heatspreader

    Lian-Li 12-Bay Silver Aluminum Case With side window

    Lite-On Black 16X DVD+/-R DVD Burner support Dual Layer

    ENERMAX Whisper II 2.0 535W ATX12V V2.01 Power supply, SLI ready

    ZALMAN CPU Cooler for Socket 478/A/754/939/940 With FAN Speed Controller

    Now...all i have left to decide on is Hard Drive (which i think im going with WD Raptor 76 gig) and SLI or not SLI....seems like most of you guys are saying non SLI is the way to go? its either one 6800GT Ultra, or two 6600GT's in SLI mode. Alot of you are sying its not worth getting the SLI board and what not (which makes it more expensive) but i already have all this stuff. So again.....to go SLI or not?!?!

    m3rk,

    Don't hijack other people's threads, please.

    You can get one 6800GT now and buy another later. SLI performance really varies with each game or benchmark. You need to do more work as far as configuration, than with a single card.

    How This, Also the only reseaon i was thinking about the 6800 Non ultra or Gt was beacause it a higher chip set so I was thinking about it in the way like a 9600Xt VS 9800SE. I don't know if they have the sam type of deal like those 2.

    The 6800NU would be a better buy than the LE. with the LE, you are almost guaranteed to have some bad pipes. A 6800NU has a much better chance of unlocking to a full GT core.

    6800LE = 8pipes
    6800NU = 12pipes
    6800GT/U = 16pipes

    If you buy a 6800LE, your worst case scenario is a card that is slower than a 6600GT.

    I own the MSI 6800NU (NX6800 TD128) and I was able to open the extra four pixel pipes with RivaTuner. I think this is the best deal going as MSI did a heck of a job on this card. The MSI game pack is just SICK too.

    Newegg is out of them right now though.

    Which One

    Ok, ive decided that i want a 6800NU, but now which one should i get. I going to need one that has a great heatsink/Fan, Since summers coming up and i dont have any AC, i need the best stock cooler set up. i already have 6 fans in my case so i want something that wont need another Fan.

    you'd probably have to buy a third party heatsink like a zalman vf-700 or an NV Silencer to get really good cooling.

    I really dont like touching the heatsink, i don't mind it not being the best heatssink in the world but i just need some idea of what would have the best stock heatsink/Fan on it.

    most of them have the standard nvidia design, so it would make very little difference. post the models you are considering.
