replacing hsf
I'm replacing the hsf on my 1800+. What's the best process to remove the remenants of the old thermal pad that's stuck to the cpu?

I use a lint free rag "clean of course" and very sharp blade to slice the paste from the CPU, and some fine sand paper only if the thermal past is the hard kind, and some pure alcohol to remove and dust or old Thermal paste that may remain; remember not to drink that stuff you can go blind

I use an old credit card to scrape off the old stuff, then I use another side to spread the new thermal paste. recycling is cool.

You know I never thought about using a credit card, it might give me a chance to junk all my wifes Credit Cards

I figured it pretty stiff and it's safer than using a razor. I probably won't cut my finger on a credit card, but I've sliced it open with a razor before. ow.

you should prolly still remove any oily
finger residue with any of the above
solvents before re-applying any
thermal grease, etc.
