my HDD is 80GB but only 74.211GB is available.How to make remain available

How much data do you have on the hd? what os are you using?

As Porky the pig says. Th...Th...That's all folks. You got to take it up with the HD manufacturers union. They count different then anyone else to make their product look better. It's fuzzy math at it's finest. Read this for more on that.

My 160gb shows up as 153gb. All drives are like this. Partially due to the space required to format the drive and depending on how the drive manufacturer calculates the space using gb's or kb's or butes etc. Some round off the mb's to 1 million bytes instead of the real amount of 1,048,576.

Have to deduct 7% approx for actual size, versus marketing size. Thats just the way they do it...kind of like gas is always 179point 99 or 205point 99.
Guess they think size matters for hard drives!

80GB is 80,000,000,000 bytes.
1024B = 1KB
1024KB = 1MB
1024MB = 1GB
80,000,000,000/(1024*1024*1024)=74.51GB
