    Ati 9800xt RMA, odd cooler

So i just got my 9800xt back from ATI, i was getting VPU errors all the time. when i took it out of the box though i saw the FIRE GL heatsink... i did some reserch, they look to be the same size cooler. did they happen to throw the wrong cooler on or something? i went to www.ati.com and looked up my card using the part number is said its a 9800xt...

i found that odd, and funny i guess

That's odd, maybe the card was somehow refurbished or they ran out of 9800XT coolers (figuring the FireGL was just the same) and put those ones on. As long as the new one you get works fine it's all good.

i think its my mobo now... since my card just got replaced or fixed...

oh well fix it till its broke, thats how i see it

Disable VpU recovery... Generally VPU recovery causes more problems than it is worth so I always disable it.

What motherboard do you have? Some motherboard (and chipsets) have known incompatibility with some ATi cards.

    MSI neo plat, the 939.

    9800xt BBati

i was getting the same thing with the 1.3 bios and 1.4 bios, ive tried diffrent drivers for both card and mobo... same things

ive been able to use my comptuer for 2 days now though, i had 2 crashes yesterday but since then its worked fine.

but 2 days ago, for 4 hours i couldnt get it to boot into windows... lol

i know if i turn my comptuer off or even move it(the mobo is on a box right now, not in my computer) it wont work for me...
