    IE Error HELP

Whats up everyone I am having a problem with IE. When I visit a certain website (football team site) the page loads then closes immediately. I cant figure out what is causing IE to close. Sometimes it will give an error message saying IE has encountered an error and needs to close. The file is says the problem is in is msrvct.dll. I have tried to replace this dll. If I start the comp in safe mode I can go to the site. How can I isolate where the problem is? I have used msconfig and uncheck all start up apps to see if one of these was causing the error. What else can I do??

You didn't say which OS you run.

How did you replace the dll file?
Have you tried system restore or a repair of IE?

Post the exact error message too.

Opps I am running XP SP2.

    The message I get is

I E has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you click the error report this is what is says...

    AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: msvcrt.dll
    ModVer: 7.0.2600.2180 Offset: 00037340

Most of the time the window just closes without the error message. It works fine in safe mode.

You still haven't answered all questions......
And this file can be used by many apps that uses Visual C++ run-time libraries.

There can be lots of causes; program conflicts, corrupted DLL, malware...
    But here are some options:

    1- System restore

2- Use the System file checker by typing this in the Run box: sfc /scannow
You will need your Windows CD and need to run Windows Update once done.
OR you could try to copy the DLL from your C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache folder to C:\WINDOWS\system32.

3- Download the dll here (put it in C:\)

reboot > F8 > Safe Mode with command prompt

at the C:\> prompt type: copy msvcrt.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32

    4- Repair IE

If you haven't done so yet scan your PC for spywares and viruses.
    See the Sticky for links.

Not sure what questions I didnt answer but I will try again.

    Here is what I tried

Scanned for viruses and spyware - nothing
    Ran CWshredder - nothing

Ran system file checker - all files ok

This is a totally ramdom problem just one website does not work.
