    Steam down load question

I have dial up at home.
    I have T-1 at work.
Since Valve is forcing me to have a steam account active to register HL2, Id really rather D/L steam at work, burn it to a CD and install it at home.

    Is this possible?

How big is download for a steam account? Should I just start the download tonight and hope that it finishes by Monday morning?

The actual steam installer is only 600kb big, which should only take a couple minutes on 56k, but if you ever plan on playing multiplayer, it would take forever to download all the updates that are available.

Then its easy, just download the small steam installer, its less than 1mb as previously mentioned.

you can get it from www.steampowered.com

just create an account, and you should be set. Even so, I believe your physical copy will come with the steam installer already on the disc.

    Go here:

    http://steampowered.custhelp.com/cgi...user/entry.php

and search under Products = "Steam" and Search Text = "offline steam" and the first result that comes up will be called "How To Make Steam Offline Mode Work". That should do the trick.

You just run steam when you want to play the games on it, other than that it doesn't need to be running.

PacNW CE > I'm in Tigard, if you're up for some Condition Zero or anything like that, let me know and we can connect.

I use Yahoo IM and Ventrilo voice over and I'm always looking for some cool locals. :-)
