Does it cost the same online as it will do in the shops?

The steam prices are a better deal IMO. Plus more of the money goes directly to valve rather than vivendi.

If you were a person who wanted the game to come out earlier, you'd give the money to valve rather than vivendi who threatened to hold the game for six more months while lawsuits unfold. And what is so old-fashioned about buying something online? I don't understand why people have such a hard time getting this...you download the game, burn it to a dvd, and ta-da, you have a hard copy of it. And now, you can take that to anybody's computer in the free world, put the files on their machine, log on to your steam account, and play till your heart's content.

I never siad it was old fashioned. i said i was old fashioned. i like to go into a shop without a game and come out with one. i dont like ordering online. i have to wait for what i want. i want it now. nothing wrong with downloading the game. i just dont want to.

Thats perfectly fine.
Then again, if "you want it now", then Steam is the fastest way to get the game

Small problem, no dvd burner. Suddenly the game is now a $200 game with the addition of the burner.

Don't forget it isn't exactly dialup friendly either.

Do you have a CD burner? Because the steam backup utility can automatically split the files for cd burning as well as dvd burning. Also where are you buying your 150 dollar dvd burners? Because newegg sure has them for a lot less.

Yup, it is. I found out about it browsing the net, a few days before valve actually implemented the feature publicly.
