    Looks like i'll be staying up very late on November 15th


    The question that has been on everybody's lips is at what time will Steam unlock on the 16th or at what time can I buy HL2 from retail? HL Fallout member War_Buddy has sent in some interesting news on this subject, reporting from Vivendi Denmark, Boomtown.

    The word is that not only will HL2 be released on the same date across the world, but also the same time. Vivendi are forcing retailers to only start selling HL2 at midnight Seattle time (GMT-8), with taking into account time zone differences. The reason being is that Vivendi are planning to release HL2 across the worldwide simultaneously, for both retail and steam.

    In other HL2 related news, VALVe also announced that Steam will soon be incorporating a feature that will allow for the automatic backing up of your Steam files. It will not burn them for you, but create the necessary files and prepare them for burning.

    It makes sense. Why would someone buy it if there's a cracked version already out? Valves just circumventing those issues.

    Since the date is no longer Nov. 11, It looks like they will have to wait longer for my money. When it shows up on the shelves at walmart I'll get it.

    good point... so now the question is do I wait till morning and get it from gamestop where I have it on pre-order, or do I take the $5 loss, get it through steam and start playing right away... hmmmm.

    I really prefer to get an actual box with discs, but since CS:S was released so early I took the steam route.
