    Canadian submariner Dead

    Canadian killed in submarine blaze

A rescue operation to retrieve a Canadian submarine adrift off Ireland's west coast is under way.
Three seriously injured men were winched to safety but one died and one of the others is "stable but critical" in hospital with smoke inhalation.

I read today that Canada bought two them from UK and both were wretched rust buckets. A lawsuit is no doubt pending. As an US merchant marine that work primarily on wreched rust buckets most of the time, I can understand the reasons why these things can happen. Old ships are bad enough but old submarines should be retired to Davy Jones locker. The men who bought them should be punished, not the Brits.

I wasn't even aware that Canada had a navy. I always thought they just assumed The United States would protect them.

Well we do have a nazy, we sent 3 ships to the first gulf war by the way.

Yes the subs were peices of ****. The Canadian goverment likes to by half busted gear, then when soliders die in it, they like to do nothing.

But of coarse people are screaming here in Canada. Paul Martins Liberal goverment was almost unseated yesterday, this will not help them.

Like the Sea Kings, right? My uncle is lucky, he got discharged when it was found he was slightly colourblind. He now pilots the Air Ambulance in Halifax.

Yeah the Sea Kings are a hot topic in Canada.

They are new Helicopters being built but they wont be around for a few more years.

The perfict Canada would to: Have the conservatives run the war department and lets the Liberals run the social issues.

In a perfect world that may be the case, but we both know you can't have it both ways.
