you need to understand that this bench is predominatly for the new generation cards. and that that isn't a bad score. i mean you probably get a pretty good 03 score and that was the bench for that generation of card. nothing to be disheartened by. as long as when you are playing games...they look good and they run well that is all that really matter. bencmarks i beleive are really for braggin rights

that link is just to show you what I did. It's kind of hard to prove that it's my score though. Just look at the lighter system of the 2. That's mine. I have to say that I didn't honestly think I'd get this kind of a score. Of course, this score is with my vid card overclocked to 409 Core/1113 Mem (Normal 350/1000) . My actual score before OCing my Video card is about 4349. That's about where it truly stands.
Hey MadPistol, that still doesn't explain what you did.

Did you borrow your buddy's P4? Is this the score it kicked out at stock cpu speeds? I've actually seen before where a bug puts out unusually high scores based on bad info. Maybe that happened to you? You stated previously that you didn't OC your proc because you couldn't. A 3.4 is not a 2.8 P4 -- I guess I'd like some clarity please.

    Here's my modest stock cpu&vpu score (2.8Ghz P4C + X800 pro):

My 5700 was only getting like 3200 in 3dmark03 and after that poor showing I decided the 9800 pro had gotten cheap enough I could afford one. So last night I hit newegg and odered a d sapphire 9800 pro. I know its not the state of the art next gen card but I think it will smoke this fx5700 none the less heh.

    3DMark05 score.

    2.8Ghz P4
    1024 PC3200 RAM
    PNY Geforce 6800 GT 256mb OCed [409 Core/1113 Mem]
    Windows XP Pro
    800mhz FSB

I know my score is really good for not OCing my Processor (cause I can't) Check it out!

I have also noticed that so far, it seems that the 6800 GT is the Video Card of choice so far on this forum. WOOT!!!

Check the Link. It's correct now.

Use the link shown above. Do not use the link on the old post. That link is wrong. I can't believe how picky you guys truly are with having proof. BTW, it's really easy to photoshop in some of those numbers seen in some of the screenshots. Just a reminder about that.

Yes and No. The 5700 isnt *that* bad, but the new gen cards are much stronger, and therfor score over 6x faster.

The 9800pro is a nice improvement, expect around 2500 in 3dMark05. Little under 6000 in 3dMark03.

    thx MadPistol.

You must be running faster/tighter memory than me. What DIMMs are you using and what are your timings? thx.

heh. I truly have no idea. It's a dell system so unless there is a way to access the timings without going through the bios, I have no idea. All I know is that the mem is 1 GB of Samsung PC 3200. In fact, I don't think this memory is that well known for their DIMM timings. I could be wrong though, as the memory chips are used on most major video cards in production today.

well, Dell or no, your CPU score is better than mine. And my system is darn fast. I guess I could try to increase my memory subsystem to try to reach you, but you've got something good going on there.

I wonder if it's the full GB of DDR you're using over my 512MB? Does 3dmark 05 really like a lot of RAM?

512mb is quickly becoming the minimum for gaming, with 1024mb being ideal. The extra memory will make a pretty big difference in 3dMark05.

    Here's my modest stock cpu&vpu score (2.8Ghz P4C + X800 pro):
Beeblequix! make sure you have downloaded the 8.07 drivers for your card. and notch up a bit of overclocking and i guarentee( i hope) a better score. ive got the same setup as you except i notched the core upto 550 and the memory to 575. that seems to be as high as i can go before the system just start hanging, im limited by a low wattage PSU. ive also got 1024 MB of ram.

i got a 4912 with my X800 pro and 2.8 Ghz C so there no reason you cant! fight the good ati fight!

Well, you know I'm mainly interested in stock performance. I may OC for sport, but I'd rather see non OC scores which have been tweaked to perfection. In that light I'm leaning toward upgrading my RAM.

*beeblequix looks dispondantly at his 2x256 Kingston HyperX PC3700 DIMMs*

    Maybe I should sell them.

I have 1 512 MB stick of Mushkin PC3500 Level II laying around. I'll have to wait a few weeks 'cause I feel a bit uneasy about spending the $170 on it right now.

I dont think, that memory timings make such a big difference in 3dmark.
